Women’s Credit Programs (WCP)

The microfinance program of MSS is being used as an important tool for poverty alleviation and empowering the poor. MSS took the first initiative to start urban micro credit program in 1984 styled as “Small Credit Fund” (SCF) with the objective of encouraging income generating activities in the non formal sector for poverty alleviation and empowering the disadvantaged segment of the society. In that program urban poor men and women were target the group. On the basis of the good performance shown by the women group in the SCF, MSS started Women’s Credit Program (WCP) in 1989 as an integrated savings and credit program.

Self-Sustainable Social Services Program (SSSSP)

It is generally agreed that economic development and social development must be planned and implemented together in order to achieve success in both aspects. A planned economy requires certain social goals and must be guided by human values. The healthcare which is an integral part of the economy plays an effective role in raising the standard of living, stability of employment, better physical and mental health, better housing and educational opportunity.

Non Formal Primary Education

To raise literacy rate to a satisfactory level, it is very urgent to teach children at the grass root level. Especially the literacy rate among the poor people is very disappointing. The underlying reasons are financial constraints, extreme poverty, male headed family, lack of opportunity, dropout etc.

Day Care Center

MSS is running four daycare centers in Dhaka city. The purpose of setting up daycare centers were to support the poor working mothers who go out early in the morning for work and come back at night and to provide education and security to the kids of the working mothers. Supported by the Royal Danish Embassy, the daycare center was established in 1996 for the kids of the poor working mothers. The project ended in 2003 and still in operation as per project sustainable plan.

MSS Medha Bikash Uddog (Merit Nurture Initiative)

Merit is a valuable asset of a person. To nurture this merit, MSS introduced “MSS Medha Bikash Uddog” (Merit Nurture Initiative) in 2005 to encourage and continue the education of its clients’ children. Each year MSS provides this scholarship to the poor meritorious students of its clients.
